Drilling Grade Bentonite
- What it looks like
- Usually a fine, free-flowing powder; commonly sodium-based or activated to meet the required fluid performance.
- Typical application
- Oil and gas wells, water-well drilling, mineral exploration and horizontal directional drilling.
- General use guide
- Disperse gradually into the make-up water under suitable agitation and allow enough hydration time. Treatment rate and water chemistry should be confirmed by laboratory or field testing.
Foundry Grade Bentonite
- What it looks like
- A finely milled grey, beige or light-brown powder selected for active clay content and bonding behaviour.
- Typical application
- Green-sand moulding for iron, steel and non-ferrous castings, where bentonite helps bind the sand grains.
- General use guide
- Meter into the sand system with water and other additives. Addition rate should be adjusted to return-sand condition, moisture, compactability and the foundry's control targets.
Pelletizing Bentonite
- What it looks like
- A uniform fine powder designed for controlled moisture, dispersion and binding in mineral concentrates.
- Typical application
- Binder for iron-ore pellet plants, supporting green-ball formation, handling strength and stable balling.
- General use guide
- Dry-dose and mix evenly with iron-ore concentrate before balling. The dosage should be optimized against ore chemistry, moisture and the required green and fired pellet performance.
Civil Engineering Bentonite
- What it looks like
- Typically supplied as a fine powder and prepared on site as a pumpable, thixotropic slurry.
- Typical application
- Diaphragm walls, bored piling, trench support, tunnelling, HDD, sealing and waterproofing systems.
- General use guide
- Mix into clean water with high-shear agitation, hydrate and circulate as required. Slurry density, viscosity, filtration and sand content should be monitored throughout the work.
Agriculture & Feed-related
- What it looks like
- Available as powder or granules, depending on whether it is used as a carrier, binder or soil amendment.
- Typical application
- Soil conditioning, moisture retention, fertilizer carriers, process binders and selected feed-related applications.
- General use guide
- Blend uniformly into soil, fertilizer or the intended formulation according to trials. Feed-related use requires buyer verification of composition, documentation and local regulatory compliance.
Environmental & Adsorbent
- What it looks like
- Fine powder, coarse granules or formulated blends selected for swelling, sealing or liquid uptake.
- Typical application
- Landfill and pond sealing, soil-bentonite barriers, spill absorbents and selected waste or water-treatment processes.
- General use guide
- Apply as a compacted layer, mix with soil or formulate as an absorbent according to the project design. Compatibility, permeability and contaminant testing are essential before use.
Cat Litter Bentonite
- What it looks like
- Screened, rounded or irregular granules in controlled particle-size ranges, with colour varying by source and processing.
- Typical application
- Clumping cat-litter products requiring fast liquid uptake, firm clumps, manageable dust and odour-control options.
- General use guide
- Granulate, dry, screen and de-dust to the target range before packing. Clumping strength, absorption, dust, fragrance and package format should be validated on the finished product.
Custom Industrial Grades
- What it looks like
- Natural sodium or calcium bentonite supplied as powder, granules or customer-defined processed blends.
- Typical application
- Coatings, sealants, ceramics, detergents, carriers, binders and other industrial formulations subject to technical review.
- General use guide
- Select the clay type, activation, particle size and addition method through application trials. Mixing sequence and dosage depend on the customer's formulation and performance target.
